Gaurav Jathars story is a familiar one in India, a schoolboy prodigy in Mumbai his dream was to play for his home town state, he realised his dream on the 14th February 2011 and bowled 7 economical overs for 28 runs in an easy victory. He never made another appearance and spent the following years trying in vain to establish himself in 1st class cricket. Gaurav played for the Indian U19 Team on their tour of Australia in the 2nd test he was knocked over cheaply by Kane Richardson but grabbed 2 wickets of his own one of which was Nic Maddinson and in the World cup that followed he performed creditably too. Then earlier this year he decided to move to Sri Lanka and was offered a trial for the Famous Chilaw Marians Club he made 64 on debut and 71 in his next game bowling tightly and taking a couple of wickets in each game and was promptly offered a contract. It has proved a great decision because since then Gaura has scored another half century before stroking a beautifully made 139 against Saracens in early September 2022. As a youth Gaurav was regarded as a left arm spinner that batted he is now the genuine allrounder that most clubs seek. Gaurav came over in 2023 to play for Bagnall Norton C.C. in the powerful North Staffordshire & South Cheshire League, he A strong bat a skilful he racked up 600 runs and took just shy of 40 wickets a really strong season for his 1st in the UK, with that behind him Gaurav will be much in demand for 2025.
